I’ve been working on this for five years. A program at the Hallmark Channel to educate and employ up-and-coming female directors. And here she is! @officialcrystallowe has been studying directing, directing short films that she wrote and shot herself in her free time, applying to directing programs, shadowing, reading, and working for this long before I became a director (all the while she ran a Chinese restaurant, had two kids and taught acting class? I’m telling you she’s amazing). And now Yan-Kay Crystal Lowe, our inaugural Make Her Mark candidate, has directed her first film for the Hallmark channel. Most importantly? She nailed it. I am so incredibly proud of this woman. Did I get on the stage at the Mercury Lounge in #NYC with my How I Met Your Mother fam to sing to the rafters? I did. Did I forget all the lyrics and giggle my way through my entire verse? Why YES.
