Bojana Novaković Instagram – It’s no joke when you get into the financial papers. Here’s our little warning to investors which you can find in the Australian @financialreview
Not in our back yard. Not in anyone’s back yard. For those criticizing the farmers of Serbia who seek to protect their land against the mining of lithium, it is in YOUR interest that they fight. Their “not in my back yard” means that the food you eat, the soil it comes from and the water that nourishes it remains protected. For Australians it means your organic raspberries stay organic. (Because Serbia is where they come from)
But in Serbia we are not just about our own back yard. @mars_sa_drine and other Serbian groups against lithium extraction have already signed declarations of solidarity with those fighting lithium across the globe – from Chile to Portugal, Spain to Germany and beyond, we are all in this together.
Laws in Europe all the way to the US are being altered to fast track permitting so the mining mafia can extract minerals necessary for the so called green transition. There is nothing green about legalizing expropriation of farmers or destroying protected lands. But the facade of this scramble for profits is falling apart.
Lithium prices are falling. Companies are rushing to convince investors to pitch in. If your interest isn’t saving nature or water or food or animal life, if your interest is just money – even then – this is not a good investment. Take your money elsewhere. The world is watching.
