No sooner will you find a robin’s brittle egg laid in a nest of bright wet willow twig, than you’ll find yourself arising in January with a new sense beginning.
So if you must resolve, resolve to be gentle and tired. Dormant still beneath the hard soil, asleep again in the leaf lined burrow.
Spring will come surely, yellow and kind,
but to wake winter from her sleep is an odd ambition, while all the flora,all the fauna, all the slow dripping honey lay wait
for the coming of the vernal sun.
