My first trip of 2024, began with a work trip to Kolkata, a city close to my heart. It was for the @kolkatachildrensfestival and I had a wonderful time in the city. After all, it is where I spent the first decade of my life! I was enveloped in the warmth, affection and hospitality of the entire team. A big thank you to the curators of the Fest, Vikram Sridhar, @the_storytellingfellow and Kavita Gupta @mirrorworkshops for making me a part of KCLF. There were plenty of incidents that made my trip special! From meeting authors, fellow storytellers , singing songs in Bengali to sharing stories with the children from the SOS village😊 It was also a special moment when I shared a story I had written for Tinkle, the “Naanu Paati” story, which was an instant hit. But, that’s not all….. I visited 73L Purna Das Road, the place where it all began. It was the building number of my childhood house in Kolkata. After the event, I stayed back an extra day to catch up with an old friend, Sarasij Sengupta, Bhepuda! He took the day off from work to spend time with me and all we did was reminisce about the good old days – how from being just neighbours we became good friends. We walked and talked about our playful adventures when we were little and enjoyed recollecting memories. Every part of the house, from the windows to the balcony, had stories to tell. I felt so fortunate to be connected with my childhood friend. Though we hadn’t kept in touch regularly, we picked up right where we left off. He still has my postcards that I had written to him decades back!! So many years later, Kolkata still feels like it is a part of me, and I love the beautiful sense of belonging. We often attach meaning to some numbers, be it the building number we grew up in, our first phone number, or even our first car nameplate, isn’t it? Every digit could awaken your memories if you allow it! As for me, 73L will always be very special♥️ #childhoodmemories #friendship #gratitude #momentswithmaajanaki
