Chris has a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University and a Masters Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Naval Postgraduate School. He was selected for astronaut training in 1998 and served in CAPCOM (Capsule Communications) before making his first space flight in 2006.
Ferguson has spent a total of 40 days in space aboard three separate missions to the ISS in 2006 (STS-115), 2008 (STS-126) and 2011 (STS-135), and was elected into the Astronaut hall of fame in January 2022.
After retiring from NASA, Chris began working with Boeing as director of crew and mission operations, helping to develop technology aboard the Starliner crew module which is due to have its first human test flight in April 2024.
