Like I said above… This post might be controversial but here goes!… I am going to share some of my knowledge of modeling for dance wear brands and dance photographers. There is a lot to know and Journey has been in this biz for the last 9 years. I have learned a lot! There are several layers to this post and I hope some moms find it educational! First of all not everything you see on social media is as it appears. That’s obvious but I want to go a little deeper. Many of the shoots you may see and you and your dancer are sad or even jealous you aren’t a part of aren’t actually modeling jobs. A job means your child is being compensated. We have seen and been compensated through money, credit to shop the brand, a future shoot for free with the photographer etc. The next level is trade. Sometimes you are participating in a shoot in exchange for free images. So this isn’t really free for either you or the photographer, you’ll pay for wardrobe, travel, time, possibly take off work etc. The photographer has invested in the expensive equipment, will spend many hours editing, you both might split the cost of renting studio space etc. You both agree that working together mutually benefits you. I recommend having the photographer share a contract with exactly what to expect. I see complaints from both sides when contracts aren’t used. Expect to give the photographer plenty of time to edit. Don’t wait a week and then hound them. They are going to prioritize their paying clients first. They have bills too. 😉 Finally there is pay to play. This happens more than people realize and some people are doing it often. Absolutely no shame but many of the dancers you are seeing as ambassadors are actually still paying the photographer. It’s actually a so smart move on the photog’s end to have tons of ambassadors still willing to pay for shoots. I do wish there was a little more transparency as Journey has been accepted as a model for different things only to be asked to pay. If you are a model you shouldn’t be paying. But if a parent has the means then go for it. 🤷🏼♀️ I just want others to know it’s not as simple as you might think. Q&A ⬇️
Haven’t done an unboxing for such a long time!! Heading to @24sevendance soon and needed to stock up on my convention wear! I ALWAYS shop @honeycutofficial the styles, the price, the quality! I love it all!! #stingerteam #honeycut #stingersquad #savethebees
I have so many new followers and it’s been a long time since I have introduced myself! I started modeling at age 3 signed with an agency and booked 3 major jobs in my first couple months! I then started acting as well. My mom was a dance instructor at the time and so I spent a lot of time at the dance studio. I LOVE everything about dance but mostly I love having to work hard and be a part of a team. People assume I come from a wealthy family all sorts of things are assumed when you just know someone though their social media. My dad struggled with mental illness and because of that we moved a lot. I have lived in 6 places in 12 years. Including my aunts basement a small apartment (with 3 brothers lol). I have been called a rich spoiled girl and I get how people think that. But really it’s just not reality. I have worked hard for everything I have. 2 years ago I was attacked on my street by a random stranger that admitted his evil intentions. I fought him off and my mom called the cops and he is now behind bars for 18 years to life for attempted kidnapping and attempted rape. Because of the travel I have done for modeling my mom has talked to me a lot about trafficking and the dangers of someone taking you. In that moment I was attacked all that went through my head was “get away or you’ll never see your family again” so I fought and screamed my head off until I was able to break free and get home. I am not afraid of hard work and even have an eye condition that I could let hold me back but why? It just makes me special. Sure it makes some things in life harder but challenges make us grow. I have had some very random injuries that have held me back in dance and had to have double knee surgery when I was 7 to fix my knocked knees. It was a very hard and painful process. 💔 Last year just after Thanksgiving my family went on our first major family vacation. We went on a cruise for Christmas. Half way through my dads mood drastically changed. It was hard for any of us to be around him because it was so dark. 🥹. On December 21st 2022 he lost his battle with mental illness. There was a time we were without him in 2019. Cont in comments

NOBODY IS YOUR ENEMY *ANYONE THAT ANNOYS YOU* —is teaching you patience and calmness. *ANYONE THAT ABANDONS YOU* —is teaching you how to stand up on your own feet. *ANYBODY THAT OFFENDS YOU* —is teaching you forgiveness and compassion. *ANYTHING THAT YOU HATE* —is teaching you, unconditional love. *ANYTHING THAT YOU FEAR* —is teaching you the courage to overcome your fears. *ANYTHING YOU CAN’T CONTROL* —is teaching you to let go. *ANY “NO” YOU GET FROM HUMAN* —is teaching you to be independent. *ANY PROBLEM YOU’RE FACING* —is teaching you how to get a solution to problems. *ANY ATTACK YOU GET FROM PEOPLE* —is teaching you the best form of defence. *ANYONE WHO LOOKS DOWN ON YOU* —is teaching you to look up to CREATOR ( *GOD* ). Always look out for the lesson in every situation you face in every phase of life. Be polite, calm, gentle and thankful to God because He will be with you to the end. Life had taught me lessons. I do not see people at my cross road, because humans are not reliable. I only see God as the author and finisher of my faith. Dancewear @honeycutofficial Photo @studiojoliedance
