Keely Cat Wells Instagram – Disabled joy this January…

1. Many of us with hidden disabilities have ‘dynamic disabilities’ and some days may be more painful, symptomatic or harder than others. When it comes to mobility aids I have been dealing with my own internal ableism, compounded by the fear that as a founder partners, VCs or colleagues may think i’m no longer capable. As a Disability Rights Advocate who’s spent years working to shift perceptions, I was startled by how deeply this fear resonated within me. If it was not for amazing friends, I wouldn’t have had the confidence to start helping myself.

2. Jumping out of a plane! 2024 got off to a flying start! For some Disabled people, tandem skydiving – jumping out of a plane – is probably safer than standard air travel… That may sound WILD but likely not far from the truth. Thank you to my partner & friend @sophlmorg for arranging this trip but more importantly for founding #RightsOnFlights, a campaign dedicated to making air travel accessible for all and aims to educate Disabled people about our rights when flying.

3. Attending CES and meeting the amazing @_making_space__ team IRL! Making Space was selected to participate in 1 of 10 open booth spots within Eureka Park at CES 2024 – thank you to the Consumer Technology Association for the space.

4. Getting the Making Space mini studio ready for some very cool projects 😎

10 years ago I thought my life was over, nobody except my mum believed or fought for me. Thanks to her, we made it through the worst times and there was light at the end of that very long and dark tunnel.

Off to D.C. next week for an amazing opportunity to make some more space 💕
