Child marriage is one of the hardest things I learned more about in Uganda with @worldvisionnz It is a huge issue facing so many young girls in poverty. Girls as young as 12 or 13 are married off young, often in exchange for money that their families desperately need for food or to pay off debts. When they are married, they are usually pulled out of school, their futures taken away from them.
Through child sponsorship, girls are educated. And educated girls are bold, confident, know their rights, are empowered, and have dreams.
Poverty often removes your choices. Education offers more choice for young women.
