Kym Whitley Instagram – CONGRATULATIONS to My Friend, Derrick Rutledge, The Makeup Artist to @Oprah , Myself, and Too Many Others to name, for receiving The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award!!! The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Awards are an Annual Event held to honor those in our Nation who Exhibit Outstanding Character, Work Ethic, and Dedication to their Communities.  Recognizing Individuals or Groups who have made Significant Contributions by way of their Scholarship, Administration, Leadership, or Mentoring. The Award honors individuals who complete over 4,000 Hours of Service in their Lifetime.  The Road to this Decision was filled with Several Interviews and Much Research!! They wanted to know who Derrick was Scholastically, Emotionally, and Personally EVERYONE who Dr. Kee talked to about, Derrick, came back with Overwhelming Stories of Love and Positivity!!! During the Vetting Process Dr. Kee learned that Derrick came from a Generational Family of Educators, Principals, and Councelors. I’m taking about his Mother, Aunt, Sister and His Cousin who are Now All in Heaven and also a Sister, Still Living, who For 35 Years Has been a Special Education Teacher!! So Teaching and Training was Always in his blood. Derrick was not the only one Recognized, but Posthumously, So was his Mother, Regina T. Rutledge and Aunt, Constance T. Laws, As well as his 89 Year Old Aunt Marlene Tolson.  “When you are able to provide others with Hope and Inspiration, you are Serving them and Attending to their Spiritual needs”!!
