You scared the bejeezus out of your bosses and were incredible at your job. Sorry for saying that bad thing to you one time because you wouldn’t let me eat Halloween candy! I never did it again! I miss raiding your office for envelopes and your sewing box for thread. I miss your wonton soup. I miss playing rummy with you, your funny quips, how you’d open presents perfectly to save the wrapping paper, your mischievous smile, your giggle, your stern look. You moved across the ocean and back, survived a war and a revolution, survived raising three boys and being widowed young. Survived and thrived and lived and loved.
