Rhona Mitra Instagram – Last night at midnight, Lucky 6 were placed in their pen awaiting their future. They dont know it yet but every day from here-on-in they will roam pastures, climb mountains and sip from fresh water streams together and live a life free of pain and subjugation as all horses should… With our collective efforts yesterday we managed to pull – 2 Mares 3 foals (2 male/1 female) 1 adolescent male Two will require castration, 5 will need fattening with alfalfa, they all require vaccines,antiparasite meds and hoof care, and two are completely raw so will need basic ‘taming’ as will be tough to handle (but its the young wild ones that rarely stand a chance and we didnt want to see the slaughterhouse take anymore.) We managed to push the price up on several others, too high for the meat market thankfully, but for now from what we raised and what we need for their care ahead this is what we could justify. So, to EVERYONE who contributed, I hope you feel warmth in your hearts for being part of their journey. We/they can not thank you enough. We’re on 3 hours sleep and off to collect them with the truck as we speak… So if you want to follow their journey please do so on @thelastarkorphanage 🛻 💨 🐴 💪🏾
Rhona Mitra Instagram – Trying to find serenity in the stillness…. They say when you connect to the peace within you you can begin to make sense of the disturbance around you…. And yet, I find no sense in what I see and feel from the myriad media outlets right now… From the distraction of glittering gowns to the endless images of trembling children… The only truth I find is in the eyes of these untethered creatures as the rain falls softly around us… I sit here quietly.. Tears full of eyes… Some days are like this… and I am grateful to feel and have the privilege to choose…. (kindly…) Grant me the serenity… (Pulled from the slaughterhouse pipeline- 360 days rewilded.
