I wanted my child to express herself, her upset (which hilariously comes out as noticing the woman’s very flamboyant look. She was wearing a red cape. Kicking myself for not saying ‘Santa’s been drinking!’)
She is full of emotions about it adrenaline was still coursing through us…I want her to see how most people see this woman’s behaviour as abhorrent.
I haven’t been racially abused in a long time. It rattles you. I could ask neighbours if their doorbell cameras caught what happened but I don’t want her to know where I live. Besides, the instinct to publicly shame her, though valid, isn’t always the best way to deal with such things. I’m not her victim. Neither is my daughter. This woman was her own victim and she is being punished enough having to live in that head of hers.
