Teresa Palmer Instagram – My Nanna, Dora, was my hero. She raised 8 children (she also suffered the unimaginable with a stillbirth) She had the most wonderful spirit and nature, I always felt SO proud that she was my Nanna. She had a great sense of humour, she was vibrant, beloved by everyone, very social with more friends than I know anyone else to have and she did anything for them. She really helped my mum raise me and because of that we were so close, I’d sit next to her for hours and she’d hold my hand & talk about the happiest days of her life, raising her babies alongside her friends. Nanna planted the seed of motherhood in me, her stories filled me up with such joy and a longing to experience a big family like hers. Before she passed away in 2011, she told me that she knew I’d have lots of babies and that as much as she was excited for me as my acting career took off, she knew that being a mum would be the greatest joy I’d know. She was, of course, right. My mum always says how similar Nanna and I were, so naturally when she passed I felt a huge hole in my heart. Recently I’ve been really missing her, thinking about how much I wish she met my children, although I’m sure she sent them to me. I’ve been really feeling her around me a lot and in this weeks episode of @themotherdazepodcast I talk about a very profound experience I had with her just recently. This episode is actually perhaps my favourite of the lot. When you listen you’ll understand why. Out now, wherever you get your poddies.
