Zelda Williams Instagram – As a little Valentine’s day treat, here are some of my own behind the scenes photos on @lisafrankensteinfilm! There are many, many more, but I figured this would be enough of a photo dump for the time being without annoying anyone 😂 Also, a big thank you to all the weirdos who’ve found our wacky movie so far! We had an absolute blast making it, and I couldn’t be prouder of our little goofball collective.

Frankencrew Forever! 🧟‍♂️❤️‍🔥
Zelda Williams Instagram – Clearly I’m aging out of understanding this app because I thought this shit was too long to post 😂 Lo and behold, here it is!

In any case, the lookbook I made for this years ago referenced a lot of things: the comedic but gory ‘dead friend’ moments in An American Werewolf in London, the passionate love of color in Tie me Up! Tie me down!, how night was lit in Nightmare on Elm street, and how silent longing was shot in Edward Scissorhands. I talked about how much I loved Bub in Day of the Dead and Link in Encino Man. Young Frankenstein. Cry Baby. Rocky Horror. Frankenhooker. Death Becomes Her. So many of the movies I watch (and rewatch), I poured onto those lookbook pages and hoped to pour into this fun, vibrant film. Who knows if I succeeded, after a certain point you lose all objectivity, probably around the 200th watch while editing 😂 but I tried. And truthfully, I couldn’t be prouder that my first film is also the one thing I was personally most afraid to do: comedy.

I got to face my fears, and pay homage to my heroes. Believe me when I say that everything else past this point is a goddamn bonus!

And before any angry cinema purists jump in with “well this looks like it sucks”, no one’s forcing you to watch it 😂 no one has ever forced you. That’s the beauty of cinema, you can find, and love, whatever films you choose if you care to look. If this one’s not for you, all good, there are countless others that are, and you live in the time where it’s also easiest to find them all! I loved every single movie that helped me better understand this one, and am so grateful to every single film that will help me grow after it. I doubt I’ll get the chance to make anything this wonderfully wacky ever again, so forgive me if I ran with it. I bet you would too 😉
