Antoinette Lattouf Instagram - I am very disappointed by the ABC’s decision today.

I believe I was terminated unlawfully.

This is not a win for journalism or critical, fair thinking.

I’m currently considering my legal options.

Antoinette Lattouf Instagram - How much more devastation will our government allow? Families, communities, and fundamental rights are being torn apart and shredded before our very eyes.

By refusing to sanction Israel, expel its ambassador, halt military trade, or impose travel bans on extremist settlers and those implicated in war crimes, Australia is sending a dangerous message.

The message is unmistakable: Australia is granting total impunity to an ally and “dear friend” as Israel commits war crime after war crime.

The Australian government is condoning human rights atrocities.
It’s failing to protect children.
It’s silent on the right to healthcare.
It’s neglecting the rights of people with disabilities.
It’s undermining press freedom.
It’s disregarding freedom of expression.
It’s ignoring international law.
It’s indifferent to justice.

Is this who we want to be?

Sanction Israel. Now is the time to act.

Contact Anthony Albanese and Penny Wong’s offices today. Demand immediate, meaningful action. Make your voice count!

Antoinette Lattouf Instagram - I was about to just block and delete—like I had so many times before. But that day, I was done.

Late last year, I got a harassing, racially charged email from a man I’d never met. It wasn’t even the most vile or threatening message I’d received, even though it called for violence and harm. But I was exhausted. Frustrated. And I thought: I shouldn’t have to cop this. Enough.

So I reported it. Months later, NSW Police’s hate crimes unit called—they’d identified him. A man in his 60s from regional NSW. They wanted to arrest him.

A few days later, at the police station, I hesitated. Should I go through with this? Was I scared ENOUGH? Unsafe ENOUGH? Was I worthy of police resources? Women are conditioned to endure hate and harassment. Women of colour, even more so.

Maybe he’d had a few beers. Maybe he was having a bad day. Maybe he thought it was funny. Maybe, just maybe, he has a bit of a crush on me and this was his weird way of showing it.

Then the Sergeant said something disturbing he’d observed in his career: generally speaking, men who are violent to women in person almost always start online.

ENOUGH.

So I signed the police report. And the man was arrested today. Turns out he was also targeting others like me online and he’ll front court next month.

The alleged offence? Using a carriage service to menace, harass, or cause offence. Maximum penalty: three years in prison.

Moral of the story: I totally get why a bloke in his 60s would be into me—excellent taste, obvs. But maybe next time, try a less criminally unhinged way of showing it. (Allegedly. Etc etc.)

Also, if you’re copping this abusive shit online, report it. You shouldn’t have to put up with it. We shouldn’t normalise it. And as for police resources? There’s only one thing I take from L’Oréal… babes you ARE worth it.

I know other many women have been turned away from authorities, let down or told to “maybe just stay off socials” as though as victims, they are to blame. My experience was different, and I hope others are afforded a similar path.
Antoinette Lattouf Instagram - The matter wasn’t resolved today. But the fight continues and I’m willing and prepared to fight for as long as it takes.

I want to thank the millions around the country and even those overseas for their support.

This is such an important case because it’s not just about me. It’s about free speech. It’s about racism. It’s about the important role journalists playing truth telling, and crucially, it’s also about a fair, independent and robust ABC.

And I love the ABC. I will always advocate and fight for an ABC that can operate and inform and entertain the masses without fear or favour.

NOTE: if you’re able and willing to donate to my legal fees, there’s a link in my bio.
Antoinette Lattouf Instagram - I knew my appearance would be dissected, analysed, and judged—because that’s what happens when you’re a woman in the public eye. Women who had been down this road before tried to prepare me for what to expect.

‘Look polished, but not too polished.’
‘Be serious, but not too serious—God forbid you look “cold” or “harsh.”’
‘Don’t scrunch your face, don’t let the wind make you squint—that will be weaponised.’
‘Also don’t smile too much, because that will be interpreted as flippancy.’
‘And whatever you do, don’t look too confident… or too uncomfortable. But also don’t look weak and afraid.
OK? Good luck.’

And sure enough, here we are.

For the record, the outfits and accessories I wore were either loaned, borrowed or generously donated by folks in fashion (it also helps to have 4 sisters!)

I was explicit that any GoFundMe money raised is solely for legal fees. The amount raised so far accounts for about a quarter of the cost of this litigation. Not a cent of it has been spent on anything else. The fact otherwise is being implied by some media outlets is pathetic and plain wrong.

Anyway, while you’re here, take a moment to appreciate this wild idea: you can seek justice and dress however you want while doing it. Crazy, huh?

Ps. Shout out to my friend, the exquisite stylist @katherine_rizk for her support and excellent eye.
And the photographer who doubles up as the love of my life @danny_lattouf

Antoinette Lattouf Instagram - Lattouf v ABC: Seven days before the Federal Court so far.

Evidence in chief has been presented, and all witnesses have been cross-examined.

The final two days in court are scheduled for February 27 and 28, when both sides will present their closing arguments.

I feel the immense pressure and weight of this process, but your kind messages of support buoy me — I’m both moved and thankful.

I am deeply grateful to my brilliant barristers, Oshie Fagir (r) and Philip Boncardo (l), and to my exceptional and compassionate lawyers, Josh Bornstein and Penelope Parker of @mauriceblackburnlawyers , who have been steadfastly representing me for over a year.

If you’d like to support my legal fund, you can donate via the link in my bio.

Every contribution helps me keep this justice journey going. It’s a long road and it turns out tickets aren’t cheap.

Thank you for your support.

Antoinette Lattouf Instagram - ‘Gaza has unleashed a global crisis for free speech’. Listen to the excellent Jen Robinson.

Silencing storytellers—whether through violence, sackings, lawsuits, or propaganda—seeks to crush the truth. Fair, factual and free speech is being targeted.

Pianist @jaysongillham and I know this firsthand when we dared to share facts from reputable sources @humanrightswatch and @committeetoprotectjournalists about the unfolding genocide in Gaza. Both of us felt compelled to take legal action against attempts to intimidate and silence us because of the dangerous precedent it sets for our industry peers and for the victims of this ongoing violence.

Those seeking to cover up or distract people from war crimes being committed by Israel just so happen to have picked the wrong musician and journalist to target. Our voices grew louder and moral clarity sharpened.

But while we face bullying, and loss of work— other storytellers pay the ultimate price: their lives.

At @sxswsydney in October this year, the brilliant human rights and international law barrister Jen Robinson delivered a powerful keynote that connected our experiences to a much graver reality—the targeting and killing of journalists by the IDF and its supporters . Jen’s ICC complaint on behalf of Shireen Abu Akleh, the Palestinian-American Al Jazeera journalist killed by Israeli forces in 2022 while wearing a blue press vest, remains unresolved. Shireen’s family still fights for justice. Since her death, over 140 Palestinian journalists have been killed in Gaza.

Yet in Australia, these stories are buried. The relentless killing of Palestinian journalists barely make headlines—our front pages instead demonise peaceful protests calling for freedom, justice, human rights, an end to violence and the release of hostages and those unlawfully detained without charges.

Because: Objectivity. Impartiality. Independence. Etc etc.

But we cannot stay silent. If we have a voice, we have a duty to use it for those robbed of theirs.

Antoinette Lattouf Instagram - Imagine it’s 2025, and an Australian newspaper publishes an article describing a population under occupation in an apartheid state as “gorillas.” Now imagine it follows this by branding an entire race as “black-hearted.”

Then consider that this same newspaper has spent months posturing about its commitment to “social cohesion” and denouncing racism against a marginalised community.

This is staggering and shameful, even for The Australian.

Brazen bigotry has been resuscitated.

You can make a complaint to the Australian Press Council and also give Media Watch a heads up.

NOTE: The Instagram post when up on Friday 17th January at 5.30pm and is the second tile of the post.

Antoinette Lattouf Instagram - Testimonies from journalists who didn’t - or couldn’t - sign the letter calling for greater scrutiny in the reporting of the violence unfolding in the Middle East.

There were too many responses to include all of them but you get the idea.

They come from journos in TV, print and online newsrooms, across both commercial and public broadcasters.

The aim with sharing these is to give you a glimpse of the pressure some journalists are under and to make it clear that even though many didn’t sign the letter publicly, they support the letter privately.

Antoinette Lattouf Instagram - How will the history books remember 2023?

2023 will be remembered as a year where it seemed more offensive to:

❌ Call for a ceasefire
❌ Believe violence doesn’t solve problems
❌ Condemn the targeting and killing of journalists
❌ Scrutinise war propaganda and misinformation

Than:

✅ Ignoring pleas from all leading human rights organisations
✅ Disproportionally slaughtering women and children
✅ Killing the largest number of journalists in a conflict since record keeping began
✅ Using propaganda, misinformation and disinformation to justify a genocide in the making
Antoinette Lattouf Instagram - This year has been heavy. It’s been wild. My heart aches. I’m beginning to lose hope which is not like me.

So I’m taking an extended break from work and social media. This is uncomfortable for me and will be a challenge, but it’s necessary to create space and time to rest and heal.

You’re of no use to others if you neglect yourself. So this is me putting my oxygen mask on first. Don’t worry, soon enough I’ll be giving CPR to those who don’t even want it.

A social media producer will be managing my account and posting content from @theantoinettes_pod and @thebriefingpodcast in my absence (episodes will keep rolling out).

There’s a link in my bio if you want to donate to my legal fees in my unfair dismissal case against the ABC.

If you have a booking/speaking/media inquiry you can hit the email button on my profile and send a request which will be managed.

I won’t be checking emails or messages.

At some point I’ll be back and I’ll be OK. In the meantime, look after yourselves and eachother.

And don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.

Antoinette Lattouf Instagram - Women Who Win available for pre-order now.

Yes, the title was locked in several months ago.
Yes, I already have a cover.
No, I’m was never going to change the title irrespective of the verdict.

This book was born during some of my darkest hours—when the quiet little voice in my head turned feral and started yelling, “You’re just one woman, what can you do?”

So I turned to the women who came before me—Australian women who stared down systems, kicked over fences, and won. Sometimes big. Sometimes only just. Always at a cost.

In Women Who Win, I share their stories—and, through them, my own. Some names you’ll know. Others you’ll wish you’d met sooner.

It’s about courage, conviction, and change—the messy, unmarketable kind that actually moves the needle

Thanks to @penguinbooksaus for backing this book, and backing me— guess I was a winner either way because I told that voice in my head to piss off and kept going.

You can pre-order it now. Link is in my bio.

Antoinette Lattouf Instagram - Forget the Rich List, I made the Top 10 Shitstirrer’s list for 2024, @crikey.news is recognising the biggest nuisances to powerful people.

“After being unceremoniously dumped by the ABC, Antoinette Lattouf refused to go quietly. Instead, she embraced her role as a national symbol for the people calling out the influence of pro-Israel lobbies on Australian media, the announcement noted.

My first reaction to coming in at #5, is that I’m terrified to tell my mother I didn’t make top three.

Below is my acceptance speech in full:

I’ve survived the last year, so that’s something. If I were an Arab journalist “stirring the pot” about war crimes in Gaza and reporting from the Middle East instead of Sydney, there’s a good chance I’d have been taken out by the IDF like 140 Palestinian journalist in the past 14 months. So, let’s raise a glass to the fact that I haven’t been snipered and somehow made it onto this list.

Sure, the pro-Israel lobbyists tried to career-assassinate me, and the ABC is dabbling in lawfare, but I’d like to think I’ve shown that pushing back against powerful institutions not only holds them accountable—it gives you an even louder voice.

I’d also like to thank God and WhatsApp groups (and apologise to my mother. I promise to stir harder next year to make top 3.)

Antoinette Lattouf Instagram - In recent days a family was found dead in Perth in what is suspected to be a double homicide and suicide.

Just like it’s critical for the media to avoid narratives that justify the murder of women or suggest the perpetrator was provoked when reporting on intimate partner violence, it’s important not to reproduce those narratives in reporting on other forms of family violence like filicide, especially when the victims live with a disability (including autism).

The media’s role should be to inform without causing further harm, but also to interrogate power and raise questions about ways in which systems may be failing vulnerable individuals.

Antoinette Lattouf - 10.1K Likes - I was about to just block and delete—like I had so many times before.

Antoinette Lattouf - 9.7K Likes - The matter wasn’t resolved today.

#NoFearNoFavour

NOTE: if you’re able and willing to donate to my legal fees, there’s a link in my bio.

Antoinette Lattouf - 9.3K Likes - I knew my appearance would be dissected, analysed, and judged—because that’s what happens when you’re a woman in the public eye.

Antoinette Lattouf - 7.5K Likes - Lattouf v ABC: Seven days before the Federal Court so far.

Antoinette Lattouf - 7.4K Likes - ‘Gaza has unleashed a global crisis for free speech’.

It’s a commentary piece written by Alan Howe, The Australian’s ‘history and obituaries editor’.

UPDATE: Around midday on Saturday 18th the Instagram post was taken down. The article remains up on its website.

I will not stop fighting for press freedom.
I will not stop fighting for human rights.
I will not stop fighting for a brave and independent ABC, a public broadcaster that doesn’t bow to lobby groups.

I am buoyed by and grateful for so much public support, support from the MEAA and from my journalism peers.

Antoinette Lattouf - 5.1K Likes - How will the history books remember 2023?

2023 will be remembered as a year where it seemed more offensive to:

❌ Call for a ceasefire
❌ Believe violence doesn’t solve problems
❌ Condemn the targeting and killing of journalists
❌ Scrutinise war propaganda and misinformation

Than:

✅ Ignoring pleas from all leading human rights organisations
✅ Disproportionally slaughtering women and children
✅ Killing the largest number of journalists in a conflict since record keeping began
✅ Using propaganda, misinformation and disinformation to justify a genocide in the making

Authorities say they don’t have the answers and are “still investigating” yet one verification expert shares various reasons why they believe there’s a lot of editing including an “audiovisual mismatch”. This verification conclusion took less than a day.

Antoinette Lattouf - 4.6K Likes - Forget the Rich List, I made the Top 10 Shitstirrer’s list for 2024, @crikey.news is recognising the biggest nuisances to powerful people.

“After being unceremoniously dumped by the ABC, Antoinette Lattouf refused to go quietly. Instead, she embraced her role as a national symbol for the people calling out the influence of pro-Israel lobbies on Australian media, the announcement noted.

Antoinette Lattouf - 4.6K Likes - In recent days a family was found dead in Perth in what is suspected to be a double homicide and suicide.
