Caption : Today is the anniversary of my mama’s death day. Ruth Felder Winger. She is so happy here. My father seems happy behind her. My mother worked from the first day I remember. I never knew there was a choice until later. She lived a lot of things without questioning them. Both her strength and a bit of what is lacking in our lives. This year I see both as co-existing – the living and the questioning. We pass our death day each year, we just don’t know it – I let it be my life’s muse today.

Caption : It is September 11, 2020. In the moment my finger pressed down to capture this moment, all the moments in the recent past seemed to enter in and join the now. The fear and horror of March April and May; the anger in June and rising inability to accept life as our nation had continued to frame it – have and have nots, supremacy of all kinds White, economic, and environmental; the strife of the summer and the struggle to feel one could do something, many things to affect change and growth; and now in August and September the unbearable truth of climate change in the form of devastation in the West; the pain of loss both from an unmanageable virus and now fires that displace and destruct ; Three fold ways of taking our very breath away; All the while celebrating birthdays, marriages and trying to find a way each day to relax into the knowledge that time will move us to solutions to a way of working together to a Reckoning. And so this moment: in any way one can find it: a cool blue pond, communion with friends, a long tall glass of water when parched, the call that comes at just the right moment. Help comes when we ask for it. It comes from various and sometimes unsuspecting places. I want to stay open to help; to help and be helped. Here comes the fall. May all Beings find peace. #help #reckoning

But it occurs to me that although these are seasonally correct as emotions that I often feel living where I do, and somewhat interesting to note in that they are timeless in Nature: NOW is always different. Now the dread and the resistance are reflected in the NEWs each and every freakin day. I do dread hearing it – for every conviction, how many deaths by police? Caption : I’m tending the fall garden, beautiful flowers turning now to another season, and I am standing with women everywhere in the hope for our nation to understand the difference between impulse and action and for a world where #humanism is valued over gender. Make our stories known. Teach others how damaging unwanted or non-consensual sexual aggression can be to any young person: things that take years to get through. I look forward to the years ahead for my sons and everyone’s children to live with respect and to find pleasure in the beauty of our bodies.
