Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who was the chair of The Elders and a real mentor for me, led the Truth and Reconciliation Committee in South Africa and that really allowed people to expose, report and maybe feel again some of the horrors of the apartheid era. Caption : Before Peter embarked on his Back to Front tour of the USA in 2012 he spoke to @rollingstone about the success of the So album… “There was less sort of esoteric songwriting. I think they were simpler songs in some ways, but I think we caught a wave. They were done with passion and we had a really good team working on them. Then, of course, we had things like the “Sledgehammer” video, which helped enormously. It got us a wider audience. A song about forgiveness, tolerance and optimism. A joyous, rousingly-positive closing note for the album. ‘Music can be like a box of mood pills that we can use to treat ourselves’. The song is accompanied by the striking ‘Soundsuit’ artwork of Chicago based artist Nick Cave.

Caption : This month’s full moon release comes with artwork from the artist @antonymicallef and his work ‘a small painting of what I think love looks like’. “Antony Micallef is a stunning painter. I’d seen some of his portraits and they are with thick layers of paint, so there were references to Auerbach and Bacon for me, just very physical, very powerful and I just fell in love. Those paintings, in some ways, are more brutal, but this one is so tender and I think Antony manages to capture a lot of that intimate tenderness around love that is very hard to put into pictures.” – PG
