Caption : I will not celebrate the murder of any people. I find it deeply troubling that people are watching mass murder on social media and cheering on as if they are cheering for a sports team. My heart goes out to all of the families and civilians on both the Palestinian and Israeli side caught in this horrible conflict. I refuse to engage in any war mongering. This is a very complex situation that involves colonization, apartheid, land seizures, displacement of indigenous peoples, it also involves extremist groups on both sides and Hamas a terrorist group exploiting a very deeply disenfranchised population. My prayers and thoughts are with the innocent families and children. ON BOTH SIDES. War is not a sport. #Palestine #Israel #compassion

Caption : The greatest form of peace and joy in a relationship is when you feel you don’t have to do anything for your partner to love you. A relationship where who you are is ‘enough.’ I’ve been feeling not enough lately. I’ve been emotionally drained, physically exhausted and truthfully, showing signs of depression: low energy, irritable, not able to get out of bed in the mornings, not able to remember simple things, not feeling joy from activities I used to feel joy from, not interested in physical activity, and feeling helpless and disconnected from my body. The Iranian revolution has put many Iranians in a state of fight/flight, and I think somewhere in the midst of all the sadness I went from fight/flight to a disassociated freeze mode and stayed there. I’ve been able to fake it in public but behind closed doors, I’ve been unable to be my jovial, silly, energetic self. As a result, I’ve felt deep guilt and shame for not being able to be the usual me. In childhood I learned I had to “earn my keep” in relationships by doing good things, being fun or funny, performing, or being helpful. My current state has shaken my confidence and sense of value. I feel like I’m not as valuable or “enough” for those around me. I feel like I have very little to offer because I’m completely depleted – I feel like an old car salesman who promised a Ferrari to my partner and friends and instead gave them a run down jalopy car. This has triggered deep shame and guilt. I finally admitted this to my partner and how I feel like a burden. I broke down, cried, and shared my feelings. And my partner explained that his love for me is not predicated on my mental health or performance and he wouldn’t leave in the absence of the happier version of me. I realized, just because we’re in a healthy relationship and have done ‘the work’ to heal old wounds doesn’t mean those wounds will not present themselves in new ways. I’m deeply grateful to not have to do anything for my partner’s love in this chapter of life. He is reminding me that I’m enough even if I’m needing to find my way back to myself again. A relationship where who you are is ‘enough.’ I’ve been feeling not enough lately. I’ve been emotionally drained, physically exhausted and truthfully, showing signs of depression: low energy, irritable, not able to get out of bed in the mornings, not able to remember simple things, not feeling joy from activities I used to feel joy from, not interested in physical activity, and feeling helpless and disconnected from my body. The Iranian revolution has put many Iranians in a state of fight/flight, and I think somewhere in the midst of all the sadness I went from fight/flight to a disassociated freeze mode and stayed there. I’ve been able to fake it in public but behind closed doors, I’ve been unable to be my jovial, silly, energetic self. As a result, I’ve felt deep guilt and shame for not being able to be the usual me. In childhood I learned I had to “earn my keep” in relationships by doing good things, being fun or funny, performing, or being helpful. My current state has shaken my confidence and sense of value. I feel like I’m not as valuable or “enough” for those around me. I feel like I have very little to offer because I’m completely depleted – I feel like an old car salesman who promised a Ferrari to my partner and friends and instead gave them a run down jalopy car. This has triggered deep shame and guilt. I finally admitted this to my partner and how I feel like a burden. I broke down, cried, and shared my feelings. And my partner explained that his love for me is not predicated on my mental health or performance and he wouldn’t leave in the absence of the happier version of me. I realized, just because we’re in a healthy relationship and have done ‘the work’ to heal old wounds doesn’t mean those wounds will not present themselves in new ways. I’m deeply grateful to not have to do anything for my partner’s love in this chapter of life. He is reminding me that I’m enough even if I’m needing to find my way back to myself again. Life is just one long journey back to self again and again. Thank you @prince_nova_

I stand with any person being brutally silenced and their people being murdered by their own government. In Iran, the mass execution of political dissidents has been a common practice, and we must stand with the innocent people being wrongfully killed. I was born into a Baha’i family, and my family has had first hand experience of wrongful imprisonments and oppression at the hands of the Islamic Republic. My personal fight is against fundamentalism, extremism, totalitarian regimes and any and all fascist or religious dictatorships. My goal is to free Iran, free Afghanistan, free the Middle East, and make sure that America doesn’t turn into another Iran by succumbing to extremist ideologies that become the fertile ground where fundamentalist theocratic governments becomes manifest. Caption : Tomorrow is Iranian New Year, “Nowruz”. This Nowruz is more solemn than what we are accustomed to, but it’s actually very symbolic. Nowruz translates to ‘New Day”. The first day of Nowruz is celebrated on the spring equinox, usually around March 21st, and lasts for 13 days. This year the exact time of the spring equinox falls on Monday March 20 at 2:24 PM Pacific Time. Nowruz is celebrated by millions of people around the world, symbolizing renewal, rebirth, and the triumph of light over darkness. Nowruz is not only celebrated in Iran, but also in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, some parts of India, Pakistan and even China. One of the most recognizable aspects of Nowruz is The Haft Sîn table – a traditional table setting that is decorated with seven symbolic items that start with the Persian letter “sîn” or “s”, representing different aspects of life. The items that make up the table are 7 of the following: * Sabzeh – sprouted grass, representing rebirth and growth. * Seeb – apples, symbolizing beauty and health. * Seer – garlic, represents medicine and good health. * Samanu – a sweet pudding symbolizing fertility and affluence. * Senjed – dried fruit of the oleaster tree, representing love and affection. * Serkeh – vinegar, represents patience and age. * Somāq – Sumac represents new beginnings. * Sonbol – Hyacinth Flower, symbolizing spring’s arrival. And * Sekkeh – coins to represent prosperity and wealth. People also add a mirror, goldfish, painted eggs, and candles to the table. Celebrating Nowruz is a way for Iranian families to come together and connect with their heritage. It is a time to reconcile with those with whom we may have had disagreements, symbolizing forgiveness and a fresh start. During the 13 days of Nowruz, people participate in outdoor activities, attend cultural events, and enjoy traditional foods. It’s also a time to clean the house, visit friends and family, and exchange gifts. May this year be the year of freedom for the people of Iran.
