Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Instagram – Too many of our stories have been ignored, forgotten and untold. Between the 1960s – 1990s, tens of thousands of Nigerian babies and children were fostered to white working class families in the UK by their Nigerian parents in an effort to have them survive and assimilate into British society. This was a practice known as “farming,” which is the namesake of my directorial debut film. #FarmingMovie documents my journey as one child who went through this process. This is our forgotten Black history. This #BlackHistoryMonth, learn about the stories of the thousands of other farmed children and encourage the government to make this a part of the school curriculum as it shaped the way the UK is today.
