Moments before I went on stage for this show, in the dressing room, I had an idea for the opening of the album - a mighty polyphonic gliding of notes towards a D major chord, sung by an audience choir. I’d never tried anything like this before, but I wanted to give it a shot: I asked everybody in the audience to sing two notes. The first was any note in D major. The second was a note far away from the first note. I then asked everybody to glide their second note to their first - transitioning from a wild clustery mess to a fierce D major joy blast – thus inducing the biggest goosebumps of my life. This exact moment (recorded with microphones all over the venue) opens Djesse Vol. 4 - about a minute into “100,000 Voices”. It also closes the album - five minutes into “Box Of Stars Pt. 2”. It’s a moment I’ll never forget. Thank you Sydney!!!!! Enmore Theatre

This was the first time I played it to @herbiehancock & @quincyjones . Swipe for a 2020 demo, back when the Over You drop was part of Little Blue 🐬
