Overjoyed to be announcing the start of principal photography on SUPERMAN today, February 29, which just so happens to be – coincidentally and unplanned – Superman’s birthday.
When I finished the first draft of the script, I called the film Superman: Legacy. By the time I locked the final draft, it was clear the title was SUPERMAN. Making our way to you July 2025.

After the table read with the #Superman cast. Eve, Mr. Terrific, Superman/Clark, Otis, Lex, producer Peter Safran, Jimmy, Metamorpho, Lois, Hawkgirl, me, Guy, The Engineer all together for the first time! What a wonderful day.
Someone on Threads asked what’s inspiring our #Superman movie other than the Donner films… but there are too many to count.
Three’s company. #Superman
With Freddie Stroma & @jenniferlholland showing them around the #Superman sets (no they’re not in the movie).
A follower on Threads asked me if there are any #Batman comics runs NOT by Grant Morrison or Frank Miller I’d recommend. There are so many! The Killing Joke, Son of the Demon, The Court of Owls, The Long Halloween, A Lonely Place of Dying, Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?, Hush, City of Crime, The Monster Men – and so many more! But I also think it’s good to have a great collection like 80 Years of Batman to see the many fun, cultural, & dramatic shifts in the Dark Knight’s tone. I saw the stunningly beautiful documentary “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” a couple weeks ago. It emotionally floored me. Peter & I knew DC Studios needed to be involved & I’m grateful to Peter & our WBD family at Warner Bros, HBO, CNN & Max having worked so hard to acquire it. It’s a wonderful film by wonderful filmmakers & Reeve’s family not only for people like me who love Reeve’s work but for everyone.
In case you were wondering, this is accurate. Excited to welcome @wendellpcg into the DC Studios family. #Superman
Thank you @saturnawards for Best Comic Book Movie to Vol. 3 & thanks to Kevin Feige & @simon_hatt for accepting & their kind words (and thanks to @stefceretti for this video!) ❤️
Happy to announce that my frequent collaborator @johnmurphycomposer is scoring #SupermanLegacy. John was one of the first people I called when I finished the script many months ago as I knew how incredibly important the score was to this production. John has been working tirelessly since, creating hours worth of music that we’ll play on set as we shoot & use in the edit & that will eventually be recorded with a glorious symphony for all of you. Welcome to the DCU, John!
Happy Birthday @steveagee.
Happy #Caturday.
(At least it is for #EmilyMonster.)
