I find a similarity between “failing” and “falling”. Rising, ascending, great heights are all synonymous with success. So naturally, Slipping, tripping, descending, crashing, are all used in describing failure. Maybe you feel “on top of the world” or maybe you’ve “hit rock bottom”. It’s so tied to our understanding of up and down. I’ve come to enjoy it. Purely because there is no up and down in space. Which is where we are. Floating about all spherical and earth-like. We made it up. It’s purely relative. To me that means that “failure” is whatever you decide it is. The same way people decide which way they think is up depending on where they are on earth. .
