Abbie Chatfield Instagram – Okay today’s (2 PART!!!) episode involves a lot of crying from joy but I also wanted to touch on this. The victim blaming needs to stop!! I understand that traumas affect who we choose, but when someone is in a toxic relationship, telling them that they like being treated like shit is only feeding into their shame and further preventing them from leaving. I’ve heard it so many times from people who have never experienced toxic relationships, and it’s far more harmful than helpful. No one *likes* being treated poorly, but people can unfortunately tolerate it if they are unable to maintain boundaries and self compassion. I’ve pushed my own boundaries beyond what I thought capable because I wanted to see the good in my partners, making excuses for them and trying to empathise with their behaviours. If I’d put that much energy into giving myself empathy, I would have been able to walk away. I say this and much more on this week’s pod which is a little personal life update. ❤️
