Angie Scarth-Johnson Instagram – I often get asked how I manage the fear of falling as a climber and I think its clear there isn’t a single climber that hasn’t sh@t themselves at least once at the sight of a fall. You learn pretty fast that climbing at your best can sometimes depend on your ability to regain that control in negative states of mind (such as the fear of falling) or it really becomes a debilitating, slow and frustrating process. it’s a very natural Instinct to have, So in that sense, a very rational fear! but It can be really hard to know where to start when managing a fear. Something that @hazel_findlay said to me that really stuck was, “pushing yourself passed your limits, really isn’t always a good thing”.
