Greg shares his own recollection of the infamous disaster that occurred on May 10, 1996, stating: “Rob Hall radioed down that he was up high at the South Summit, unable to move down in the treacherous winds, our team at base camp patched his call through to his pregnant wife, Jan Arnold, a doctor in New Zealand. During that telephone call, they told each other how much they loved one another, and then they chose the name of their baby—Sarah. The story of that emotional telephone call tore people apart all over the world. Rob Hall and seven others perished that night on Mt. Everest in the storm.”
