Ayanna Pressley Instagram – So… this is 50. I am so very grateful for this life and for the many life lessons. I am grateful for every blessing, heartbreak, hardship, trauma, or loss that brought with it wisdom, insight, and empathy. I am grateful that I’ve never known a dream deferred because everything has happened as it should, when it should. I am grateful that I found a forever love, the joys of being a bonus mom, the gift of family, chosen sisters, community, and movement family. I am thankful that Sandy was chosen as my mother and Martin as my father. I thank my Mom for my lips and hips and my Dad for my nose and cheekbones, and I thank them both for informing my Black consciousness, my love for the written word, and my belief in the power of the people. I thank the ancestors and my angels. I don’t know what the future holds, but I’m clear about who holds it. Thank you all for your birthday wishes, the outpouring of love and support, and the many prayers that have kept me covered during this 50 year journey. Here’s to a season of world change, peace, healing, JUSTICE, and unapologetic JOY!
