Biqtch Puddin Instagram – Yesterday, the world of Drag lost a Trailblazer. #MrCharlieBrown was an entertainer in this industry for over 50 years. He started drag when you had to at least wear three pieces of male clothing, other wise you would be arrested. Hence why he was known as Mr. Charlie Brown. When he started you could be arrested for just walking out of the bar or your house in Drag. Which was the law up until the 90s. He rallied the community and raised thousands of dollars during the AIDS epidemic. He provided a space for some of the best female impersonators in the south at the legendary #CharlieBrownsCabaret, which was heavily featured in @hbo’s #DragTime 90’s Documentary. I had the pleasure of being apart of a pilot called #AtlantasADrag which featured Charlie, @violetchachki, @wildcherrysucret, @bubbadlicious and myself. I will forever hold the memory when I went to compete on @bouletbrothersdragula, she told me to “give em hell” and I did just that. He taught me and the drag community how to be a Bitch, a spitfire, a phenomenal entertainer, a hostess with the mostess and to demand respect. He upheld the art of drag to the highest degree. They definitely don’t make icons like this anymore. I pulled together some of my favorite videos of Mr. Charlie Brown. I hope you enjoy them and please post your favorite memories of him below. Personally I loved coming across @miss_alexis_mateo coming off her original season of @rupaulsdragrace and being booked with him for the first time. May the Mother of Atlanta Drag Rest in Power.
