Brown Instagram – HAPPY OPENING to the cast, creative team, and production crew of Hippest Trip- The Soul Train musical- Written by @domorisseau Directed by @kamilahf Music Supervision, Orchestrations, and Arrangements by @kennyjseymour , and Choreographed by cab ☺️ My parents remember the very first airing of Soul Train. It was the first time they had seen reflections of themselves moving and grooving in a space all their own that shined with excellence. They passed their love for the show onto me. It had a tremendous impact on my love of social dance and how it is history in motion. It has been my honor to be the choreographer for this musical, to celebrate the legacy of Soul Train, to lift up the incomparable dancers who moved with bold creativity and innovation, celebrate the African diasporic language, and to create in a space filled with both joy and rigor. Kamilah and Dominique have always been inspirations to me as Black women navigating the arts, but to be in the space of collaboration with them has truly lifted and encouraged my spirit. I thank them for their sisterhood. Shout out to my team @adesolaosakalumi and @rickeytripp . Thank you for your love, your laughter, and your care. Thank you for having my back and always lookin out. I love us. Shout out to the amazing @zanemark . I am so thankful for your love and support. Thank you @moncelldurden for being with us during the early stages.
To the cast, thank you for putting ALL of yourselves in the space every time- for trusting the destination and always being so encouraging throughout the process. Your affirmations helped me so much!
