My father, John, led an extraordinary life. Guided by his faith in God and belief in human progress, he was an evangelist for education and a powerful voice for equity, making the world a better place through his mentorship of young men and women and his resolve to bridge seemingly impossible divides. He was also the most loving father and husband, devoted to providing a safe and happy home with my mother and always supportive of my dreams. He fostered in me a love of sports, history, and country.
