Eden Riegel Instagram – I did it! Been working on dropping my 3k split all month with @cityrow. I started the journey at 12:18. My favorite @shaunpatricktubbs saw me through this one, fittingly. And I celebrated the win with a moment in the cool rain, Shawshank Redemption style!
Really this has been 15 months in the making. After my fitness was completely derailed by Covid it’s been quite a journey. I’m proud of my mental toughness through very hopeless times. I’m trying to remember this for future, inevitable setbacks.
My workout goals have been externally influenced my whole life. Because I’m a woman swimming through our fat-phobic culture I’ve always wanted to just disappear rather than face the shame and hurt of having my body exist and be wrong. But when my health took a hit I had to reframe to survive. And I’m happier for it.
I wanted to crack 3000m in under 12:00. I’m posting my time from my attempt yesterday, too, for the sake of transparency, when I gave up like a widdle baby when things weren’t going my way.
Next I want to be able to do a set of 10 pull ups unassisted. I want to complete a true pistol squat. I’m zeroing in on a running goal. I’m surprised as how good it feels to focus on a much less maddening and more affirming prize. | Posted on 03/Mar/2024 00:54:12
