When I first heard the MET Ball theme was honoring Karl Lagerfeld, I started to reflect on memories we had shared together. The memory that stood out was when he photographed me for his “Little Black Jacket” book. I was 13. Everyone that was pictured wore the same black Chanel jacket and although we all wore the same, Karl let our individual styles and personalities inform how the jacket should be worn. For my portrait, he decided to place a daisy crown on my head and put the jacket over the white dress I arrived in.
The first fashion show I ever attended was fall 2011 Chanel haute couture and I remember my bubbling anticipation to see what the bride would look like! Karl’s finale bride is always the ultimate. I wanted to combine the innocence of the portrait he took of me with Karl’s tradition of ending each show with his vision of the Chanel bride.
I have always felt safe going to Vivienne Westwood with my ideas. My original idea didn’t have lace, but when I started researching Andreas’s recent bridal collections, I saw this lace and it took my breath away. I wanted to include a little black jacket in my look for obvious reasons and I tucked my hair inside as a nod to the gesture of a groom throwing a jacket over his bride’s shoulders at the end of the night.

Karl liked that my jewelry was eclectic and put together the way only a 13 year old would do it. When I look at that portrait it’s like a time capsule to that time of my life. Tonight I got to wear the iconic Grain de Cafe coffee bean necklace from 1955 curtesy of @cartier This vintage piece is not my own, but is “my something borrowed” for tonight.
Stephen Jones worked alongside team Westwood to custom design the frame for my daisy crown. It was a honor having him in the room with us fitting the frame and ironing the ribbons himself. @stephenjonesmillinery
The floral fairies from Belle Fleur turned my hotel room into a flower shop, creating my cascading daisy bouquet, which made my homage complete. @bellefleurny

Thank you @am_cinematheque for this retrospective. A big word for a 24 year old but it means a whole lot! Absolutely loved getting to answer questions tonight and to share a TV series and movie that both mark significant moments in my career so far.
I can’t believe it’s come time to say goodbye to my Appropriate family! Thank you Brandon and Lila for trusting and guiding me through my first play. I recognize that having this be my introduction to Broadway is truly special. “Treading the boards” and witnessing the brilliance of this motley crew night after night is something I will carry with me always! I will keep the sage burning for you all as you venture to the extended run at the Belasco theater. I’ll be front row cheering you on! And Ella, I hope you have as much fun playing River as I have ☮️
#quinoawaffletime! 🧇✌🏼
Excited to welcome @bebe_vio to the @lorealparis family! A true Olympic talent and a symbol of resilience and dedication. What an amazing role model!! #lorealparisfamily #worthit
