Gloria Garayua Instagram – I spent my afternoon at the Four Seasons Hotel on Doheny in Beverly Hills. For anyone that doesn’t know I sit on the board of The CARNEY AWARDS!! Today I did a very fun and insightful interview for a new documentary about it!!

Currently in development and produced by @jimkatz . Working Title: “The Carney Awards, their journey to the Red Carpet”.

The documentary highlights character actors, and their important roles in Film and Television.

I was first invited to attend and participate in the Carney Awards back in 2016. They asked me to participate in a Game show on stage. I was so nervous, but it ended up going super well and shortly after they asked me to sit on their board!
.
I attended the following year in 2017 having cast my very first set of votes for the awards.
.
Then in 2018… off I went to Australia to film “Reckoning” and couldn’t participate that year.
.
2019 was canceled while they fundraised and then, well, you know what happened in 2020 and 2021.
.
They have been working on some restructuring and hope to come back soon
.
Award shows like this really focus on actors’ true sense of character development whereas, some other award shows seem to be popularity contests. #YouKnowIt’sTrue
.
I’m a proud board member of the Carney Awards!! And today I was presented with a small (AND HEAVY) token of their appreciation for supporting them and being their “poster girl” during the strike for their “Go Fund Me” which helped serve actors in financial hardship. This beautiful glass token has my name on it so I’m considering it an AWARD 😂!
