Gloria Steinem Instagram – Today especially, I am reminded that among the many things Judy Heumann and I have shared, that we both find ourselves living the unlived lives of our mothers. My own mother had to put aside her career as a brilliant journalist to become a wife and mother. I still remember her teaching me to fold a page in thirds to take journalists notes. Judy and I both learned from our mothers to mother ourselves. I had no idea when we spoke, that this conversation for The Heumann Perspective would be my last with Judy. As saddened as I am by her passing, I am ever more honored to have shared these words and this work with her. For me, friends have been equally my family and I am honored that Judy and her legacy are a part of my chosen family.
