Hend Sabry Instagram – Today , millions of people are losing faith not only in maps , but in Humanity. I am one of them. I refuse to choose whose children to mourn. Children didn’t ask for your wars. Why do you force the world to choose? Why invoke the painful past of one party and deny all past and all possible future to another , then punish their innocent people for being too weak , too poor and too uneducated to fight radicalism ??
No terror can flourish with prosperity and equality. But maybe some don’t want to eradicate terror. Maybe some find it useful to their agendas. The only problem is that they are not the ones paying the price. They are not the ones living in fear and crying and mourning on both sides, they never were , they never will be. Since the day I was born , it is the same cycle : oppression and injustice leading to violence ,leading to fear ,leading to hatred ,leading to more violence and more hatred. I -and I believe I’m not alone-, chose , every time , not to let anger , injustice and violence divert my moral compass and empathy with all suffering souls .
I am today in disbelief , in front of such dismissal and dehumanization of the Palestinian people in the media..
The deafening silence and/ or the absurd “retaliation” alibi to the total obliteration of an entire territory that is “ home” to over 2 million children , women ,men , journalists and humanitarians in a besieged Gaza is a Crime. A crime that undermines any prospect for Peace , Because it is an insult not only to the values of humanity and equality we thought existed , but also an insult to our intelligence and to our memory , to the shared recent history of millions. You can’t build peace on denial. You can’t build peace without equality. Or else it is not Peace that you want , as Author Ghassan Kanafani stated , it is “capitulation”.

Signing petitions feels futile to a lot of people. I personally signed this petition and I’m calling on people to sign it because it’s been already endorsed by more than 600 humanitarian and human rights organisations from around the world, including Oxfam, Save the Children, Amnesty International, Médecins Sans Frontières, as well as Palestinian and Israeli civil society organisations. It also has about half a million signature and aims to reach at least 2.2 million – one for every Gazan.
This petition is also aligned with the humanitarian asks that the UN is calling for. It’s already being used as an advocacy tool by humanitarian organisations and campaigners around the world to convince policymakers to support a ceasefire.
