Trash and treasure and all that. Well it was never trash, it just didn’t fit with our Details album a quarter of a century ago.
The life of a song is always so fascinating once they’re out the door.
Loving discovering new versions, remixes and samples every day on Spotify and with them the artist’s creating them! Keep them coming!
Most of them were never cleared but we really want to use them as an exercise to demonstrate it doesn’t need to be complicated to sample! As we work through them one by one we are able to map their existence, identify means to simplify the usual heavy clearance processes, spot the good and supporting actors and distributors who could be the enablers of a bright future for the music industry where collaboration is streamlined, encouraged and where everyone can win and flourish! This feels like the beginning of a 10 year dream. A new kind of song, as a service! Anyone fancy building a map of the song’s remixes? I’d love to see that.
