Mr. Mugler’s Maschinenmensch or Machine-Human is inspired by the fictional robot of the same name from the 1927 German film “Metropolis.” “Metropolis” has inspired many artists over the years including me for my latest music project dropping February 23, just a week away. Get ready honey! … I am aware of many artists and models wearing this fembot couture for photo and video shots. But I am not aware of anyone ever wearing it on a red carpet. @zendaya @luxurylaw this is just so incredibly divine. Seeing this piece on a red carpet in 2024 is a beautiful reminder of how simultaneously Mr. Mugler was ahead of his time and truly timeless. This year we celebrate 50 years of the Mugler brand. I’ve been critically reflecting on my collecting archival and vintage fashion as art, the spiritual component for me but how also it can become obsessive and breed scarcity thinking for me. A subtle mindset shift from one of scarcity to abundance allows me to connect with the deep spiritual relationship I have with all the art I have made my life about. With all the people, places and things I truly love in my life there’s always a spiritual component.
