Lilián García Instagram – When I look at this photo on the red carpet, I can’t help but think of my younger self who at the age of 8 when I came back to the US after living in Madrid, Spain and wore dresses to school instead of jeans, was instantly made fun of and picked on. My self esteem instantly got shattered. And in that moment I wanted nothing more than to be accepted.
Throughout the years, that led me to trying to force myself into groups that to be honest with you, were not even healthy for me. That longing to belong brought a lot of sadness and anxiety into my life.
Fast forward to now where I am very comfortable in my own skin and have genuine healthy relationships in my life, I can’t help but be grateful for what got me here.
Any of you have self doubt?
Low self esteem?
Need to feel accepted?
Want to belong?
Here’s what I did to be able to get my glow back:
Therapy
Self development courses
Mentors
Coaches
Community
…and above all a relationship with God!
We’re not supposed to do this alone y’all! Lean on others, lean on God. Work through your traumas and learn how NOT to need other people’s validation to make you whole.
Now when I am on red carpets, it feels good to be healed. It feels good to be on them just for the fun of the event and not to be validated by photographers or viewers.
Life is much sweeter this way. Hope this post has blessed you in some way and reminded you that YOU ARE SPECIAL!! You just need to step into your true self and stop trying to be who you think you are supposed to be. There’s only one of you!! Isn’t that great news?! 😊🙏🏼 | Posted on 22/Feb/2024 20:34:54
