Arora has been on the shop floor since the 90’s and she’s tried it all, at different stages in her life and varied moments in her career. Opportunities, she says, come and go, but you have to be hungry and strike when they come your way. “Sometimes when they knock on your door you don’t even realise it, but I’m always up for experimenting. I’m happy being a part of this fashion and beauty business, I look good and as long as I can do that, I can survive. Sometimes I’m fed up with it and I need to challenge myself. I need to push the envelope and add to my repertoire. I’m such a busybody by nature – no matter what I have to be doing something.”

Arora admittingly keeps her walls high, and her circle small. “I’m at a stage at my life where I’d rather just have those few people in my life. I don’t have the bandwidth for drama and toxicity.” On her priority list is the time she gets at home with my family and friends, and her dog, who she credits as being a major stress-buster in her life. “I love hanging out with my son”, she says, “Long hours of chilling with him, taking a trip with him, cooking with him. Believe it or not, when he left for uni, I was heartbroken and wondering how I’d function. He’s grown up and he has a life and he’s doing his thing, and now suddenly I have so much more time for things I’d have to think twice about.”

Arora has always been about the balance and that extends to her social media persona as well. “It’s important to not get swayed given the pressure around you. You get so much love and attention that you can get carried away by what’s happening. How much you want to put out there or rather how much is necessary, is in your hands. It has to be just the right dose, somewhere what I put up out there has to be fun and silly, but it also has to be from an inspirational side. I want to put that voice or message out there – as a single mother, as a working mother, a woman who decided to work post-motherhood or then having a certain trajectory throughout. You can actually say that you can balance your life, and yet pursue a dream or hobby and a career – it’s all doable.”
