Marcy Harriell Instagram – It says a lot when you can sing someone’s notes for over three years and find something new in it every time. Even better when the music breaks your heart as it simultaneously fills it up with joy.
I’m honored to sing the music of Burt Bacharach, Hal David, and Dionne Warwick. Together they created a blend of pop, soul and blues that is, utterly and completely, its own thing. And though I’ve hollered about the joy of performing their catalogue with @markmorrisdance , I haven’t said this here:
This music, this dance, this sixty minutes in the theater leaves *everyone* walking out better than when they walked in. It’s a light on the often dark stage of life.
Mr. Bacharach passed away this week, and when we perform next weekend in Berkeley, the gift of his notes will be on my mind, and hopefully in my voice.
