Mayim Bialik Instagram – Here it is…..my final update of my meditation experience using @danharris’ 10% Happier app, Days 7 & 8!

Welp, I made it through my first week of meditation. And I’m pleased to report that it’s not as painful as I had built it up to be in my mind!

Actually, this is the first day all week that I only meditated once and didn’t go back for seconds. I guess there’s something to all the research that meditating twice per day yields the best benefits.

Day 7 was a harder day for me – I had a lot of sadness come up, which was strange, and then I did a meditation specifically for cultivating self-compassion, which was kind of hard but good hard.

It seems like I’m learning something about pacing. I think that something is physiologically happening when I’m introducing these pauses that naturally lower my heart rate and blood pressure.

I’ve noticed my desire for the quietness that happens when I meditate is louder than my desire to be pulled away by all the distractions that happen when one meditates.

I’m really grateful that I talked to Dan Harris – I felt so moved by his book 10% HAPPIER, and his app has genuinely taught me how to actually meditate.

So I’ve decided I’m going stick with the daily meditations, and maybe it’ll inspire others to do the same. It’s certainly cheaper than therapy and less problematic than self-medicating with other things. I’m going on DAY 41 and 725 minutes of meditating with the app as we finish.

Thanks very much for tuning in to see my progress. I think I’ll keep it going. πŸ™
