abusive ex. It was my dad that gave me the corage to leave my dad I loved
more than anyone my dad who would be 70 this year my dad who I miss sooo
much every single day. Everyones dad is special but I am who I am cos of my
dad He was an immighrant who came to Leeds from Nevis when he was just 9
years old He was everything to me I used to watch him from my window every
morning going to work on his bike doing different weeks of long shifts as a
copper welder he never moaned never missed a days work never complained
about how he got treated as a black man in 1970s working class leeds married
to a white girl who was just 19when she got pregnant with me He taught me to
fight my own battles to work hard to believe as was just as good as anyone
else even tho he never thgoght being a singer and dancer would ever be a
proper job When I became a spice girl he told me two thing to eat my
vegetables and never forget where I came from. I wouldn’t be here if it
wasn’t for my dad i dedicated my book and my MBE to him because all of it is
cos of him I love you dad I miss you you will always be my hero I have never
forgotten when I come from I am back here in leeds and yes dad im eating all
