Mimi Cave Instagram – This is Noa. Noa, along with the other characters in our film FRESH, was so excited to meet the world on a big cinema screen, in a room full beautiful albeit masked faces. I’m so saddened that I will not get the chance to introduce you to our brilliant cast of characters at the Rey Theater in Park City. The news of @sundanceorg cancelling in-person events hits very hard for me, as this is my 2nd film at a festival to be effected by the pandemic. I was set to premiere a short film at SXSW in 2020 that was also moved online. I know my story is similar to so many others in the last couple years, and I’m saddened for all the artists that have put in so much goddamn work. As a filmmaker, you dream of the big screen. You just do. The theatrical experience is like nothing else — communal, visceral, memorable — we design our work to be experienced in this way. I cannot wait for it all to come back (and mark my words: it will) full force, guns blazing. In the meantime, please still ‘attend’ Film Festivals! Support filmmakers, support artists.
