Rosa Blasi Instagram – Today, just 10 days short of his 88th birthday my dad lost his battle with Covid-19. Of course I am sad, but I am truly more grateful than anything! And not surprised he died on Christmas Eve because like my sister reminded me “he really liked attention” 😂❤️. He was effusive about expressing his love for his family (and his obsession with my mother over their 49 year marriage). Nothing was left unsaid. He was as passionate as he was funny as he was proud. And he was always, always, always there. To support. And try and give you his food. And to encourage. But mostly to Love. I am who I am because I never heard the words “you can’t” or “you might fail” from my dad. And so it simply never occurred to me. He and my mom drove me to endless auditions, rehearsals, voice lessons like a cab service throughout my first 21 years living in Chicago. They were both there commited to endlessly supporting me. Stupidly generous with their time and concern. Everyone who met him loved him and would ask about him years after meeting him. He was ‘that guy’. And he set the bar HIGH; As an immigrant who became an American citizen, who taught himself English, a proud Army veteran, Fulbright scholar, who earned a PhD in English and became a college professor for over 40 years, 3rd degree black belt, who spoke 8 languages fluently, Eagle Scout leader, and finally published author this year….when he said to me “You can do ANYTHING” I believed him. I visited him in the hospital (total God shot) this past weekend and they let me in the room because he had had Covid since Thanksgiving week. He held one of my hands and one of my moms hands and actually said through an oxygen mask “Now that’s some Strong Medicine” while he chuckled. So take after my dad Rocco Blasi… tell people how you feel about them when you can. Leave nothing left unsaid. Love hard. Make memories. And never lose your sense of humor. In lieu of flowers please send a series regular television contract, a horse, and maybe a mini facelift? RIP daddy ❤️
Rosa Blasi Instagram – First Covid wedding ✅ I had to wear a 😷 the whole time besides these photos because ya know….science. But it felt so good to say “my feet hurt from these heels” again to @tditty123 . I haven’t posted since July so this was a feeble attempt to get your attention and reminder to register to VOTE. 🌊
