Sarah Ferguson Instagram – This Commonwealth Day is the 75th Anniversary of the Commonwealth and the Commonwealth Year of Youth. Over 60 per cent of the Commonwealth is under the age of 30 and I’ve had the pleasure of meeting many of its inspiring young leaders recently including @briannafruean at #GlobalCitizenNOW. At 16 Brianna made history as the youngest ever winner of the Commonwealth Youth Award and has been advocating for action to combat climate change since she was 11 years old. We must empower the next generation of leaders, champion their efforts with grass root initiatives and amplify their voices. I was lucky to meet Lau Afioga honourable Prime Minister Fiamē today as well as some of the bright young students at Vaiala Beach School in Samoa. I admire their energy, enthusiasm and positivity. I was told recently that we must stop thinking about the climate crisis as the end but to look at it as the beginning of collective conversations between generations.
