This is my second film made by using artificial intelligence. As scary as Artificial Intelligence may be for most filmmakers and actors, I’m all for learning about new technology and using it to advance my creativity and storytelling skills. Following the release of The Overseer (my first AI film) online, I wanted to tell a children’s story with a more light-hearted approach.
I have been blessed with an amazing writer who collaborated with me on this project, Kossim Osseni who is a published children’s book author. When I was auditioning for the voice roles, Kiara’s mum approached me to record for Soppy. Kiara is a brilliant 12-year-old actress. And Barbara who voices Zeyna is an actress from London who I met on a feature film. For everything else, from image prompting to videos, I have solely used artificial intelligence.
I have trained AI to understand who Zeyna is, what she looks like, and how she dresses. There are limitations with AI of course, which I faced mostly with Zeyna’s clothes and the Snake’s movements. In this film, in comparison to my first AI film which I completed 1 month prior, Gen 2 has had major improvements and I had found it somewhat easier to make Zeyna speak for example and Soppy run. AI technology is advancing rapidly and I’m here to follow this utopic development in filmmaking and use it to my advantage. Looking forward to following Soppy’s success in the AI film festival circuit.
