Nicholle Tom Instagram - Last night at 12:20am my beautiful Mother transitioned from this world to the next. As my sister, brother & I held her… We told her it was okay to go & be with her mother (whom she loved so much). We told her we love her… & that now she can be everywhere. I could feel a lightness come over her. I could feel her love for us all. Her breathing slowed, then stopped & she was gone. It was crazy, scary & beautiful at the same time. I told her I know we will see each other again. She was a daughter, mother, sister, aunt, good friend, teacher, artist, grandmother—& so much more. She was the strongest, most sensitive, stubborn, crazy silly, sacrificing woman I’ve ever known. She did everything for us kids—even when her body gave out. My mom loved to entertain & cook—from her spicy meat lovers spaghetti to her sour cream pound cake. Her Christmas morning egg scrambles had everything but the kitchen sink! She loved to snack on green onions dipped in salt & wrapped in slices of sharp cheddar. Lol. Every holiday was an explosion of decorations. Always room for another bunny, pumpkin or nutcracker—& everything was lit up Vegas style! She was a crafting master! My love for a glue gun is attributed to her. She loved to dance & sing with her sweet little voice & she loved getting dolled up—whether it be going to Needless Markups (Neiman Marcus) the day after Christmas for a glass of champagne & a grilled cheese… or for her speech therapy job. I can’t remember a taping of ‘The Nanny’ she didn’t attend—cheering me on & looking just as colorful & coiffed as Fran. She used her art, puppets, gardening & 3 masters degrees to help countless students communicate. She loved toy poodles, Mexican food, margaritas & frosted pink lipgloss. She had her heart broken, but showed us how to get back up again. She was a survivor. She taught us not to fear hardship, as long as we have faith, we will always be okay. She taught us to dream big & take risks & to ask for what you want from this life. The ultimate chameleon—mom transformed many times throughout her life—always staying grounded in her love for her family. No more worries sweet momma. I love you so…

Nicholle Tom Instagram - I’ve been meaning to post this for awhile now but personally it’s just so personal to me that it’s been really hard to talk about and I wanted to tell Chesty’s nearest and dearest first. That said… Last November my baby boy Chesty Chew bounced gracefully across the rainbow bridge. It was one of the saddest yet magical days of my life. Horribly painful because I knew how much I’d miss his unconditional love, support and companionship. I brought him everywhere with me! He was a part of me. My soul baby. But I realized the day he passed that he’ll still always be with me. Just in a different way. When my friend Emily came over with her fiancé Robyn to send Chesty off properly. Emily and I were outside on my back patio when suddenly, the sky went dark. For a moment it was night and then it got so bright we had to look up to see what was happening with the sun! When we looked up, we saw this cloud blocking the sun. Now I know this might sound strange, but I swear it was Chesty! Floating as a cloud above us. Then the cloud literally transformed in front of us. First, it was his whole body and then his face turned towards us. I was like, “Jesus, Emily that cloud looks just like Chesty!” She laughed and immediately agreed! We kept watching it and the cloud then transformed into a million different Chestys. One with just his face and a heart off to the right of his head… One where he was jumping with his tongue hanging out… (See my pictures above. Nicholle Tom Instagram - I’ve been meaning to post this for awhile now but personally it’s just so personal to me that it’s been really hard to talk about and I wanted to tell Chesty’s nearest and dearest first. That said… Last November my baby boy Chesty Chew bounced gracefully across the rainbow bridge. It was one of the saddest yet magical days of my life. Horribly painful because I knew how much I’d miss his unconditional love, support and companionship. I brought him everywhere with me! He was a part of me. My soul baby. But I realized the day he passed that he’ll still always be with me. Just in a different way. When my friend Emily came over with her fiancé Robyn to send Chesty off properly. Emily and I were outside on my back patio when suddenly, the sky went dark. For a moment it was night and then it got so bright we had to look up to see what was happening with the sun! When we looked up, we saw this cloud blocking the sun. Now I know this might sound strange, but I swear it was Chesty! Floating as a cloud above us. Then the cloud literally transformed in front of us. First, it was his whole body and then his face turned towards us. I was like, “Jesus, Emily that cloud looks just like Chesty!” She laughed and immediately agreed! We kept watching it and the cloud then transformed into a million different Chestys. One with just his face and a heart off to the right of his head… One where he was jumping with his tongue hanging out… (See my pictures above. I generally try to stay out of the political fray and stay focused on helping folks "forget about life for a while" as Billy Joel sings in Piano Man. That said... things have now gotten so far out of hand. I feel compelled to speak out! I honestly haven't had words to express how sad and disgusted I feel about the current state of this country. I could feel a lightness come over her. I could feel her love for us all. Her breathing slowed, then stopped & she was gone. It was crazy, scary & beautiful at the same time. I told her I know we will see each other again. She was a daughter, mother, sister, aunt, good friend, teacher, artist, grandmother—& so much more. She was the strongest, most sensitive, stubborn, crazy silly, sacrificing woman I’ve ever known. She did everything for us kids—even when her body gave out. My mom loved to entertain & cook—from her spicy meat lovers spaghetti to her sour cream pound cake. Her Christmas morning egg scrambles had everything but the kitchen sink! She loved to snack on green onions dipped in salt & wrapped in slices of sharp cheddar. Lol. Every holiday was an explosion of decorations. Always room for another bunny, pumpkin or nutcracker—& everything was lit up Vegas style! She was a crafting master! My love for a glue gun is attributed to her. She loved to dance & sing with her sweet little voice & she loved getting dolled up—whether it be going to Needless Markups (Neiman Marcus) the day after Christmas for a glass of champagne & a grilled cheese… or for her speech therapy job. I can’t remember a taping of ‘The Nanny’ she didn’t attend—cheering me on & looking just as colorful & coiffed as Fran. She used her art, puppets, gardening & 3 masters degrees to help countless students communicate. She loved toy poodles, Mexican food, margaritas & frosted pink lipgloss. She had her heart broken, but showed us how to get back up again. She was a survivor. She taught us not to fear hardship, as long as we have faith, we will always be okay. She taught us to dream big & take risks & to ask for what you want from this life. That said… Last November my baby boy Chesty Chew bounced gracefully across the rainbow bridge. It was one of the saddest yet magical days of my life. Horribly painful because I knew how much I’d miss his unconditional love, support and companionship. I brought him everywhere with me! He was a part of me. My soul baby. But I realized the day he passed that he’ll still always be with me. Just in a different way. When my friend Emily came over with her fiancé Robyn to send Chesty off properly. Emily and I were outside on my back patio when suddenly, the sky went dark. For a moment it was night and then it got so bright we had to look up to see what was happening with the sun! When we looked up, we saw this cloud blocking the sun. Now I know this might sound strange, but I swear it was Chesty! Floating as a cloud above us. Then the cloud literally transformed in front of us. First, it was his whole body and then his face turned towards us. I was like, “Jesus, Emily that cloud looks just like Chesty!” She laughed and immediately agreed! We kept watching it and the cloud then transformed into a million different Chestys.
