Caption : Last week we unexpectedly lost a dear friend, Hugh Weber. He was larger than life and the world will be smaller without him. There’s a gofundme link in our stories to help his family through this awful moment. Many fans have wondered why EVERY single Senator in the Auto-Tune the News Universe hailed from South Dakota. It’s because Hugh was from Sioux Falls SD, by way of Watertown. He was the biggest booster South Dakota could have asked for and we loved having one more inside joke with him via Senators Einstein, Barth, and Bølverk. He was our biggest booster too! When we were on tour in 2007, before we’d ever made a YouTube video, he booked us to play his BIRTHDAY PARTY! A great way to guarantee an amazing turn-out. The room was improbably full. Then all four of us slept on Hugh and Amy’s couch for 3 nights. We had just been there the summer before to play the music at their wedding. Hugh is lucky to have met his soul mate & have been the father of two amazing kids. Years later he flew us to Fargo to speak at a conference centered around creativity in The Dakotas and Minnesota. The event was simply inspirational, and as Hugh promised, Fargo was much cooler than anyone would expect. He was running the conference but picked us up at the airport. He was a twitter and Instagram fanatic, not because he loved the platforms, but because he loved making friends across the world- through his outsized charm and maniacal commitment to cold-DMing he managed to get many of them to come speak at his conferences and events. And then transformed these strangers into colleagues into friends! His charm and his loyalty were magical and magisterial. He’s been at our weddings, traveled to the East Coast to meet our kids, and spent countless nights up late singing with us. We love you Hugh. We miss you Hugh. Our hearts to Amy, Em, & Finn. Rest easy dear friend 🌈❤️🌈

When we were on tour in 2007, before we’d ever made a YouTube video, he booked us to play his BIRTHDAY PARTY! A great way to guarantee an amazing turn-out. The room was improbably full. Then all four of us slept on Hugh and Amy’s couch for 3 nights. We had just been there the summer before to play the music at their wedding. Hugh is lucky to have met his soul mate & have been the father of two amazing kids. Years later he flew us to Fargo to speak at a conference centered around creativity in The Dakotas and Minnesota. The event was simply inspirational, and as Hugh promised, Fargo was much cooler than anyone would expect. He was running the conference but picked us up at the airport. He was a twitter and Instagram fanatic, not because he loved the platforms, but because he loved making friends across the world- through his outsized charm and maniacal commitment to cold-DMing he managed to get many of them to come speak at his conferences and events. And then transformed these strangers into colleagues into friends! His charm and his loyalty were magical and magisterial. He’s been at our weddings, traveled to the East Coast to meet our kids, and spent countless nights up late singing with us. We love you Hugh. We miss you Hugh. Our hearts to Amy, Em, & Finn. Rest easy dear friend 🌈❤️🌈

Caption : Last week we unexpectedly lost a dear friend, Hugh Weber. He was larger than life and the world will be smaller without him. There’s a gofundme link in our stories to help his family through this awful moment. Many fans have wondered why EVERY single Senator in the Auto-Tune the News Universe hailed from South Dakota. It’s because Hugh was from Sioux Falls SD, by way of Watertown.
