He is not only a wonderful human being but also a brilliant and talented individual who is beloved by millions of fans for his numerous TV appearances. Did you know that he spent 17 years in the industry before making his debut on Saturday Night Live? During this time, he showcased his versatility by working as a singer and arranger with Harry Belafonte, as an actor in Off-Broadway plays and musicals, and as a playwright with two successful productions. Additionally, Garrett played a pivotal role in the civil rights movement, contributing to the desegregation of Actor’s Equity and participating in the Black Arts Theater movement alongside poet and playwright Amiri Baraka. He truly embodies the essence of a multi-talented creative genius.
I couldn’t be prouder to see him finally being immortalized on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame. Generations to come will gaze upon his star and recognize him as one of the best in Hollywood.
