Blair St. Clair

Blair St. Clair Instagram – I’ve not had the right words, and I almost felt like the longer I have waited to say something the less real this would be.

@tristynst.clair and I met in high school over 10 years ago. They have always been such an incredible talent from writing and releasing music completely independently to dazzling audiences all over with their stunning beauty and kindness.
I had graduated high school in 2013 but was contracted to come back to makeup/wig design the production of Once on This Island. Tristyn was playing the role of Agwe – God of water. They were so nervous, so I had designed a fun makeup chart for them to wear as a “mask” to help shield them from the nerves. I painted their face in the blue makeup and showed them how to use the makeup brushes and colors just like the chart explained. We had so much fun creating that design together.
And that’s all that was for me in that moment.
I thought I had done my job and had fun doing it, but Tristyn shared with me years later that was their first experience feeing a sense of “drag” in life. They told me in 2021 that they felt like that was the first time they ever felt connection from another queer person and that moment was an escape for them. I never knew how much a, seemingly, simple job (for me) could connect so deeply with someone. I will always cherish the thought of putting her into “drag” for the very first time.

Tristyn- You taught me so much over the past several years. I will always cherish the love you showed me. I’ll see you again some day. You were always a star, and now you will live and shine brightly as a constellation. Keep on dreaming. You’re free ✨ 🕊️ | Posted on 18/Jan/2024 00:44:46
