We caught a window in the weather - so I grabbed my camera & jumped in a small plane… resulting in some of the most unforgettable aerial views of my career.

Chris Burkard Instagram – During a catalog shoot, along with the task of artfully showing a new product, I think it’s crucial to convey sense of place, practicality, emotion, and what made that particular moment and person special. Ideally inspiring someone to find their own version of that while using that jacket or backpack… I wanted that feeling to emerge in this campaign I shot in 2022 for the Backcountry fall catalog so I felt that Iceland was the right place. We jumped from the Vestmann Islands to þörsmork – all along the South Coast where you can get soaked in a rain coat under a huge waterfall or stand on a black sand beach next to blue ice just a couple of hours, bringing a natural diversity into the commercial task which is what I often aim for. @backcountry
